Third Battalion EMS Weekly Update - 9/17/2007  


Reno Di Domenico retired - Deputy Di Domenico has retired after 21 years with the Monroe County Sheriffs Dept, to work as an Animal Cruelty Investigator with the Humane Society.  A party to celebrate his career will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2007 at 1800 at the Country Party House.  Tickets are $20.00 and available   at the A Zone Office - Crime Prevention Officer Dan Lyon - 753-4370

No They Have Not Moved - If ! you have nce and see the "PODS" in the parking area, it does not mean that Perinton is moving out of town.  This week they are having a surface put on all the interior Concrete areas, such as the Ambulance Bays and everything that was inside these areas,  is now stored temporarily inside this portable storage area.  This will help provide a safe and long lasting finish to these areas.

Driving Safety -   With the change of seasons comes many new colors that can present hazards on the road both in an Emergency or in our personal vehicle.  These range from the excited School Children on the bright Yellow Buses to the slippery roadways from the hue of fallen leaves.  Please use due caution always when driving as these color changes can cause driving conditions to rapidly change.

Our Bodies, The Universe and the Human Body movie - Third Bat! talion EM t for ALL Emergency Personnel  to attend this unique opportunity to view the Human Body in preserved state(s) allowing to view the most intricate of the Human Structures such as veins and muscles.  This event is great to help provide the perspective of the Human Anatomy to EMS or Medical personnel, in a educational manner.  This display combined with the large screen movie, the Human Body normally is $29.00 at the door, but as a group we will have pay $20.00 for all these events.

The museum suggests three (3) hours for both activities.  Our Committee will be working on a date between November 1 and November 15th to allow anyone wishing to view this eye opening and other body part opening displays, prior to the busy holiday seasons.  Please watch for more information in this newsletter or within your organizations of this event.

New Arrival - Congrat s to w who Thursday, September 13th delivered a pregnant female to the hospital and onto the Labor and Delivery floor, where delivery promptly occurred while report was being given to the nurse.  

Sports Injury Safety - With the recent publicity of the serious injury to the Buffalo Bills player, please take time to review your Sports Injury patient care and if you are available, please plan to take one of the upcoming classes which specifically address issues such as helmet and equipment removal and patient care considerations unique to Sports Medicine
