Passing of a Firefighter


The Town of Avon Fire District/East Avon Fire Department and the Avon Rotary Lions Ambulance regretfully announce the passing of Fire Fighter John Milliman, on Wednesday, May 24, 2006. 

At the time of his passing, John was an active member of the East Avon Fire Department, serving as the Department Chaplain and an active member of the Avon Rotary-Lions Ambulance. 

John was a Past President of the East Avon Fire Department, a pioneer in “Firefighter Safety” and “Critical Incident Stress Management.”  He had served as a Fire Commissioner for the Town of Avon Fire District.  John was also currently serving as the Chaplain and Past President of the Livingston County Firefighters Association. 

John is a past member of Gates Fire Department, Gates Ambulance, and Riverdale Fire Department (Chili Company #4), where he served as Assistant Chief. 

Calling Hours will be held at the Stephenson-Dougherty Funeral Home on Genesee Street, in Avon.  They will be held on Tuesday, May 30th, 7p-9p (Fire Fighter Prayer Service at 6:30pm) and Wednesday, May 31st, 2p-4p & 7p-9p. 

Funeral to be held at the Avon Zion Church, on Thursday, June 1st, at 4pm, with a reception to follow at East Avon Station #1, at 1615 West Henrietta Road.  Any questions can for forwarded to Chief Andrew Eichhorn at aeichhorn@eafd.net  .
