Frostbite - The Finger Lakes Burn Association, based on information from
Strong and Syracuse Burn Centers is reporting a increase in both serious
frostbite cases, as well as burn injuries associated with patients
attempting to warm damaged parts, with excessively hot water. Please be
aware of this in your treatment, as well as help to pre-educate people to
these dangers
911 Center - Conrad's to the Monroe County/Rochester 911 for receiving the
2007 Outstanding 911 Center award for 2007, awarded by the E-911
Institute. This honor will be awarded on March 13th, in Washington D. C. to
recognize this center as a leader in technology and as a model for
Inter-Governmental operationally
Chief Bill Goldfeder - Firefighters Scared Straight - Not Everyone Goes
Home - This renowned Fire Scene Safety Expert is being hosted by the Third
Battalion Training Officers organization, on Wednesday March 14, 2007 at
1900 hours at the Penfield High School Auditorium. If attending, please
wear your agencies uniform.
Defibrillator Maker Announces Recall - Defibtech LLC, manufacturers of the
Lifeline and ReviveR AED units have announced a recall of certain models of
their line of AED's. Please consult www.defibtech.com/fa2007/ for specific
model and information on this recall
Change - To insure you are not late for the next several days, please
remember to set all your clocks ahead for Daylight Savings. While
changing these times, Please change the batteries in all your battery
operated safety devices such as Smoke Detectors, Carbon Monoxide
Detectors, Weather Radios and Flashlights. For electrically operated
devices, please check their operation.
If you do not have Smoke Detectors or Carbon Monoxide Detectors in your
home, please contact you local Fire Department, as all Monroe County
agencies, in cooperation with the Fire Bureau offer these life saving
devices to our communities
EMS Week - May 20 thru 27, 2007 - The theme this year is Extraordinary
People, Extraordinary Service. While this theme is being used to promote
EMS week 2007, this theme represents all Emergency Service personal, both
Volunteer and Career. The dedication and commitment that is shown daily,
under often difficult circumstances is a testament to how Great a job you
all do daily to help keep our communities safe.
Many of our agencies already are planning events during this week, such a
Open Houses and Social events to honor the members that help to make your
organizations operate. Please utilize this week to help recognize this
commitment to the Community.
Training - The Third Battalion will be hosting a number of Excellent
training opportunities, ranging from Respiratory. AWR-160 to Burn Care
management. Please see the OPC information at www.mlrems.org to get the
information on these classes
