Morton Fire / Kendal Ambulance
MVA – Roosevelt Highway & Norway Road

At approximately 4:00 PM on Tuesday, July 27th, Orleans Fire Control received a report of a motorcycle/car accident at the intersection of Roosevelt Highway (NYS 18) and Norway Roads. The Kendal Fire Department Ambulance was dispatched and the Monroe County ECC was contacted to dispatch a Morton Fire assignment. Due to the apparent injuries of the cyclist, Mercy Flight was requested to the scene and a Kendall pumper was dispatched to set up a landing zone. Morton responded with Rescue 218 and Pumper 215.

Patient care was initiated and the patient was packaged for transport to the Mercy Flight landing zone. Because of the short distance to the landing zone, the patient was transferred to the Flight gurney and Kendall and Morton firefighters made the manual transport eliminating any additional patient handling. Additional patient care was administered to the occupants of a van also involved in the crash. The van had stopped at a stop sign on Norway Road and then, not seeing the approaching motor cycle, drove out into the highway, directly in the path of the oncoming cyclist.
