The Rush Fire Department is proud to report one of FASNY 2005 “Firefighters of the year” receives another award.  

Asst. Chief James J. Bicci Jr. of the Rush Fire Department in Monroe County received the Rush Legion Post #1330 American Legion Law and Order Award for 2006 back in May. He then went on to win the regional district five award and on July 19th will receive the New York State award in Niagara Falls at NYS Legion 89th annual convention. His nomination has also been sent on to the national level. 

James J. Bucci Jr.  was the OIC in the boat of a water rescue in May of 2004 on the Honeoye Creek where a life was saved. This team received FASNY’s highest award in 2005.

If there's a gene that makes people volunteer, James J. Bucci Jr. has surely got it. His great-grandfather was a charter member of the volunteer fire department in York, Livingston County. Then Bucci's grandfather volunteered there, followed by Bucci's father and mother. Bucci himself even volunteered there before he moved to Rush — where, you guessed it, he volunteers as a firefighter and an emergency medical technician.

"It's in the blood," he said with a shrug, just a day after being given the American Legion Law and Order Award from Stevens-Connor Post 1330 in Rush.
