Brockport Working Fire

Brockport Fire Department

House Fire – 216 East Avenue

January 13, 2008 – 2:20PM

An unattended candle caused room and content damage to a house on East Avenue in the Village of Brockport. The alarm was received at 2:20 PM on the 13th of December and Brockport Pumper 2325 from Station 2, was on the scene at 2:27 PM. 2C23 assumed command and requested a FAST Team from Hamlin and a fill-in from Spencerport.

Firefighters stretched a hand line from Pumper 2325, through a side door and up the stairs of the structure, to a rear bedroom where the fire was located. Ventilation was achieved by removing a rear bedroom window and the fire was quickly knocked down. Brockport’s Pumper 234 arrived and a second hand line was stretched and charged, but not taken into the structure. Both pumpers took a hydrant directly across from the fire building. Brockport’s Rescue 238 provided manpower and equipment. Hamlin firefighter’s staged to assist in operations as Brockport was able to assemble a FAST capability with firefighters at the scene.

Extension was limited and fire investigators were able to determine the cause of the fire. The last Brockport units left the scene shortly after 4:00 PM.

At 2:53 PM, during this incident, Brockport was dispatched to an accident with a person trapped on Drake Road.
