EMS Update 2-4-08


Congrads - Rec meeting of the National Association of EMS Physicians (NAEMSP) , two (2) of our local Emergency Hospital Care Professionals were honored by their peers for their work. Doctor Erik Rueckmann received a Fellowship Recognition award, for his successful completion of his EMS Fellowship. Doctor Jeremy Cushman was honored for his and his team of Doctors Shah, Colleen Davis, Bazarian, Auinger and Friedman work in producing the best Pediatric Presentation, entitled THE EPIDEMIOLOGY OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES USE BY CHILDREN: AN ANALYSIS OF THE NATIONAL HOSPITAL AMBULATORY MEDICAL CARE SURVEY. Congrads to all of the Doctors involved and Thank You for being part of our Emergency Care system.

Special Olympics - Don't miss out on the chance next weekend to use your EMS skills to help make a Special Child happy. The! re are st onal to work the many fun events of the 2008 Winter Special Olympics. Two Way D All agencies and members are reminded that the NEW Digital paging system currently under development, as well as the system it replaces are Administrative Paging systems only. While many of us have grown comfortable with the convenience of the digital information, everyone must remember that during this developmental stage to have a Voice activated method of receiving Emergency Calls, to insure the best service to the Communities in which we serve

Rochester General
- As Rochester General develops their NEW Emergency Department facilities, they have created a Temporary, 2 year change to how they operate. Please be aware of the new ED driveway entrance, slightly east of the old entrance, as well as the spacious new Emergency Receiving area that has been created for use during this transition. Please use caution the first time you take a patient, but while you become familiar with the new facility that will se! rve us du . Your familiarity will help guide the patients path thru this ED process and facility much easier.

Valentines Day - February 14th will be here soon and while planning that special surprise for your Valentine, take a moment to think about yours and theirs real Heart. Take the time to promote heart smart living by first being a example and second teaching the important people in your life about living healthy.

Training - There is a Great deal of training opportunities that will be available in the Battalion, County, Region and Statewide over the next several months. The Third Battalion also hosts a bi-monthly EMS Training Officers meeting where your ideas are discussed and become many of the exciting classes offered locally. Please sign up for and watch for many of these classes being offered by OPC, MCC, PSTF, Fire/EMS Training office and many mo! re training organizations.
