New Years - I would like to start this week by wishing Each and Everyone of you and your families a Safe and Prosperous New Year. As Individuals, agencies and a Battalion, we continue to grow and work close vice to our families, friends and the community. I would like to take this opportunity to Thank everyone for their personal and professional support of both my self and the Third Battalion during 2007. It has been a exciting Emergency Service year and we look forward to a Great Year in 2008 and invite ALL Emergency Service personal to join us in our educational, training and social activities.

Donate to Save a Life - If you are looking for a New Years resolution, please consider the donation of blood or becoming a organ donor. These two acts can help many lives and help many families with this selfish act.

Protect your Family - All Emergency Responders are reminded that local Fire Departments have both Smoke Detectors and Carbon Monoxide Detectors available. If you could use thes! e life sa you come in contact with during a EMS call could use this assistance, please contact your Fire Department, so they can provide these units.

Sobering Statistic - National Statistics show that you have a higher likelihood of being killed in a Alcohol Related Accident/Fatality on New Years Eve, then any other night of the year. Please ring in the New Year responsibly and pay careful attention to those on the roadways around you.

Coordinators - EMS/Fire Coordinators are resources - Local Agencies are in charge of the majority of the events within the Battalion, with the Battalion Coordinators, County Coordinator/Administrator and the Executive Deputy Coordinators on scene to provide resource assistance. Agencies are reminded that they are IN Charge of these incidents and from the first vehicle/Officer on scene till termination of the incident, they should have a method to identify and me! mbers res cene responsibility.

Sledding Incidents - Last winter we had several EMS personnel injured while assisting at sledding incidents. Please consider calling additional resources if your the response to the incident will be delayed or in the event that you need assistance in safely carrying the original patient to the ambulance.
