Third Battalion EMS Weekly Update - 8/26/2007

Final Fling of Summer - Today was the first of many Third Battalion Emergency Service family events.  This first event at Sea Breeze Park brought together a variety of Emergency Service personal and their families to enjoy a day sun, fun, rides and waterslides, All the Food you could Eat and a very pleasant way to end the summer.  I would like to Thank David Garner Garner-Allsopp and his family for making this first event such a success.

If you weren't able to join us today, please talk to one of the people who attended this event and find out what a Great time everyone had, so you can be part of the fun next time.!
Third Battalion Emergency Service Family Social events - It is the goal during this next year to have a event during each of the quarters of the year.  Please watch this newsletter or your agencies bulletin board for these events.  These events are planned with two (2) purposes in mind.  The first is to provide a opportunity to include our families that helps support us daily, while we are assisting  in the community and Thank them for this support.  The second is to allow a non-emergency situation for EMS, Police and Fire personal to socialize  and get to know each other, which will help make a Emergency Situation run smoother.

The ideas that are being considered are a Haunted Hayride, Swim-Gym Fun night at a local Recreation Center, Red Wings Game and another Sea Breeze day next summer.

Katrina 2005 - On August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina devastated the G! ulf Coast erican Natural Disaster in history.  Many Emergency Personal from this area responded during the months after to assist in whatever way we could provide support.  Please take this anniversary to insure your personal and family safety by reviewing your disaster plan, inventory the disaster supplies  maintained in your household, which could be taken  even if you had to evacuate and discuss these plans with your entire family.

Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals (PEPP) class - Penfield Ambulance will be offering this valuable two (2) day class on Emergency Care and Pediatrics the weekend of October 6 and 7, 2007 from 0800 to 1600 hours.  The cost of this class is
$40.00 which includes the class book.  To reserve your seat, please contact Penciled Ambulance at 872-6060 by September us to insure the resources are ordered for all students.

!
Regional Medical Director Manish Shah again reminds all agencies to limit the amount of time that their Ambulances are idling in front of the ED entrances, due to the hazard of the exhaust and other associated products entering the ED's and potentially compromising patients health.  Please see Doctor Shahs letter at  http://www.mlrems.org/regional_training.php

QA/QI Rollout - All agencies are reminded to have a representative at this meeting on Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at 1900 at the OPC Offices to hear about this statewide implementation from Lee Burns.  Please call Sheri at the OPC for reservations
