Quint 9 Open House

City Fire Chief Floyd A. Madison today announced that on Saturday,
August 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Rochester Fire Department will
hold an open house at the Quint/Midi 9 Fire Station, located at 315
Monroe Ave.
Activities will include fire station tours, equipment
demonstrations, fire safety programs for children and a visit from
"Sparky" the giant fire dog and Buzz E the talking smoke
detector.  Children who attend will receive a free gift to help them
remember the importance of fire safety and prevention.  Additionally,
children will have an opportunity to practice making an emergency phone
call using a 911 simulator (this is strictly a simulation and at no time
is an actual call made to 911).  This device allows a child to dial 911
and experience what would happen if the call were made because of a real
emergency.
The hazard house, a three-dimensional table top model of a home,
will be on display.  It allows firefighters to interact with children
and adults to identify fire hazards and make suggestions to transform
the house from a hazardous house to a fire safe house.
Once again this year, Tops Friendly Markets will provide
refreshments.
