Subject: Third Battalion EMS Weekly Update - 4/1/2007
STEP Conference - A BIG Thank You to the committee that worked so hard to provide a very informational Conference. This local Conference provided a Great Opportunity for Educational Updates, Protocol Updates, as well as interaction with other local EMS providers.
STEP recognizes many personal from our Council and the Third Battalion would like to Congratulate ALL the winners and acknowledge our Battalion winners. Doctor Cushman, who acts as many agencies Medical Director was honored with Physician of Excellence, Christine Bartolick (SEQ/Bushnell's Basin FD) for Registered Professional Nurse of Excellence and Donald Hammond (SEQ/Pittsford Amb) for the Lloyd Leve Award. Fortunately Mr Hammond is on the mend from recent surgery and was able to attend and appreciates everyone's support during his recovery.
If you have not been to a STEP conference, plan on joining us next year or if interested in becoming involved in the planning of this event, please contact any of the STEP Officers to assist.
NEW Protocol's - MLREMS has adopted the 2007 Standards of Care protocol with new protocol's in effect as of April 1, 2007. Please reference the MLREMS website at www.mlrems.org to access and review this changes, as well as a variety of training dates and location's to learn about these updates BLS responders can start using the applicable protocols to your skill level without instruction, thou OPC and local agencies are providing numerous training opportunities to become more familiar with these changes and encourages all BLS providers to attend a session. ALS providers MUST attend a classroom session prior to June 1, 2007 to allow continuance of your practice.
The Selective C-Spine immobilization procedure is NOT in Effect, as of this date.
As with all classes offered with in the Battalion, Any EMS Personal is welcome to attend, but please contact the host agencies training Officer so they can insure adequate space to accommodate all who plan to attend.
SPOTLIGHT - Next edition will be published the first week of May. All contributor's from the past edition are encouraged to start working on their article and anyone that has not contributed is asked to contact the publication Editor Holli O'Keefe at hok64 @rochester.rr.com to submit articles for publication. All submissions will be considered, based on publication spacing.
LPGA Volunteers - EMS personal is still needed to help provide service to the Golfing Public, as well as have a great time enjoying the hopefully good weather of June and friendship among a variety of EMS personal from the area. If you would like to assist as a EMS person or in other capacities, please use www.rochesterlpga.com or 427-7100 to sign up to help at this event, which helps to provide funding for Disabled Children of Monroe Country and it's services.
How Well do your Document - Penfield Ambulance will have Rick Race presenting a class on PCR writing on both April 10 at 1900 hours and April 14 at 1000 hours. Everyone is invited to learn the do's and dont's and tips on how best to document these important papers.
