About The Monroe County Fire Wire

About the Fire Wire:
The Monroe County Fire Wire is owned and operated by Scott Ellman a Career Firefighter with the Brighton Fire Dist. who enjoys bringing unique and important information about fire and rescue events in and around Monroe County for fellow firefighters.

The purpose of this site:
Is to provide news about fire and rescue incidents, Training dates, Fundraisers, and other Firematic events. This site relies on information provided by Monroe County fire service people like you.

Use the site:
To make announcements, show off your apparatus, fire station's etc. Find other departments in the County, locate upcoming fire/ EMS Training, find links to other Monroe County Fire service sites,  or post a message in our message board.  Feel free to submit information today.

How the site Works:
Current news is posted on the main page for a day or two. Then it is moved to the Archive news page. News on the Archive news page is kept there for one month eg. April is the current month, there would be fire news from March there along with April. Once a new month starts eg. May, the last month, March , is deleted and the process continues.

-------------------------------------------------

I have received emails, questions and comments about the Fire Wire and I think it is time to discuss some of the misconceptions, rumors and lies.

Many of the questions are concerned about why didn't you post information about the fire in XYZ Dept. First off let me say that this site is run by one person NOT a company. I Cannot listen to the scanner 24/7. If you hear or respond to a fire or other emergency please use the alert form to send me the information. This is most important on the West side of the County.

Why weren't there photos of the fire on XYZ St posted. This question came up when the City had the Fourth Alarm fire on Ames St. I was working that night was not able to respond. If you or somebody you know takes photos please send them in. I browse the County FD web sites from time to time and noticed some great fire photos of a recent fire. The fire wire is viewed by thousands of people each day including the news media. If you want your photos to be seen, send them in.

The fire wire is not associated or run by the Monroe County Fire Bureau or Monroe County at all. They DO NOT provide any financial support. I include training and any other material related to Monroe County Fire on the site to help out the Fire Bureau. The site is paid for by me with the money that is colleted by advertisers and out of my pocket. If you remember I tried to sell calendars to raise money to offer other features. That was a major mistake as there was no support at all.

The fire wire is owned and operated by me and not any other Fire Dept. If you see that the XYZ Fire Dept is running a Live Scanner, Video Link etc, that does not mean they own the fire wire.

I also get many positive comments. FF have gone to China, Australia, Europe etc and they comment about checking the site and listening to the live dispatch. The biggest suggestion/comment is to get more interactive stuff like Photos, Video and Dispatch. I encourage anybody with photos or video to send them in. If you remember when the tanker crashed on West Ridge Rd. The fire wire had the best photo and video coverage than any other news media in Rochester. I believe the Fire Wire is considered a legitimate news media organization for Fire and Emergency news here in the Rochester Area.

If you have any other suggestions or comments to make the site better please let me know.
