2-2-2 Extra Alarm Fire:
Rochester Firefighters responded for a house fire late this night on Lake Ave. Engine 5 was on location with heavy flames from the Delta side of a 2 1/2. Battalion 2 reported a working fire in a large 2 1/2. One Firefighter became disoriented in the building and had to be assisted out. Canandaigua To Hire More Firefighters:
A study done last year for the city of Canandaigua by the Matrix Consulting Group, based in Waltham, Mass., recommended that the number of paid firefighters, including the chief, be increased from 16 to 21 so that there could be at least two full-time paid firefighters at each of the two firehouses around the clock.
