MVA Person Trapped

Union Hill Firefighters responded late tonight for a mva with a person trapped on Lincoln Rd and Ridge Rd. Engine 132 went on location with a vehicle rollover and live wires down. 1C23 confirmed a person trapped and requested RG&E to be stepped up for the live wires on the vehicle. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

3050 Church Road – Heavy Smoke in Structure
July 30, 2010 – Approximately 10:00 AM

 

Griffith Oil employees were installing a now oil tank in a home this
morning and turned on the furnace to burn off any oil in the supply pipe
to the furnace. Fire immediately broke out in and outside of the unit. The
employees retrieved a dry powder extinguisher from their service truck and
knocked down the external fire. A blower fan came on and pushed heat and
smoke throughout the structure.
A 911 call, from a neighbor and Morton Firefighter, dispatched the Morton
Fire Department along with a mutual assistance company from Hamlin.
2C64 arrived on scene and confirmed smoke in the structure and assumed
command. Holley was added to the assignment for RIT operations.
Firefighters checked for any interior extension and took the roof to ensure
the heat and smoke were properly venting from the chimney. Finding no
extension and with the smoke and heat dissipating, the Holly response was
cancelled. The fire in the furnace was then allowed to burn itself out. The
Hamlin Fire Marshall and a Monroe County Fire Investigator were requested
to respond to the scene to determine cause of the faulty furnace operation.

Working Fire

Rochester Firefighters responded for smoke from the house this afternoon on Cutler St. Quint 6 went on location with smoke from the second floor of a 2 1/2. Battalion 1 reported a working fire and requested an extra company. Engine 10 responded as the RIC while Engine 17 was special called to assist. The fire was under control in about 26 min and the cause is under investigation.

Police Officer Shot (Oneida County)

An intense manhunt is underway as various law enforcement agencies are searching for a Utica man suspected of robbing the NBT Bank in Rome and the wounding of an Oneida County Sheriff’s Deputy during an exchange of gunfire along Route 49 near Marcy.  Full Story here.

MVA Person Trapped

Henrietta Firefighters responded early this morning for a tractor trailer accident on the NYS Thruway between the Henrietta and Victor Exits. 6C91 went on location with a tractor trailer on its side in the median. Command further confirmed the driver was trapped by the steering wheel. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
