Working Barn Fire

North Greece Firefighters responded this afternoon for the report of a brush fire on Latta Rd. Engine 274 went on location with a large brush fire with an exposure problem. 2C17 further reported a working barn fire with an exposure to a house. Barnard and Engine 3 responded to the scene to assist while Ridge Rd, Spencerport and Hilton provided fill in companies. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Person Shot

Rochester Firefighters along with Rural Metro Paramedics responded this afternoon for the report of a person shot on Nichols St. Rural Metro PIO LaShay Harris reported that Rural Metro Paramedics treated and transported a male in his 40’s who was shot. His current condition is unknown at this time.

2-2-2 Extra Alarm Fire

Rochester Firefighters responded last night for a car fire at the Bay and Goodman car wash on Bay St. While responding, the assignment was upgraded for the report of a car fire in the building. Midi 7 went on location with heavy smoke and fire from the building. Rescue 11 went on location and requested a second alarm for heavy fire from a commercial building. The Deputy Chief took command and reported a one story commercial building fully involved. Command further reported that the fire would be fought from the exterior. Quint & Midi 6 responded as the RIC while Truck 4, Engine’s 13 and 12 responded as the second alarm. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

New Delivery

Chili Firefighters recently took delivery of a 100′ Pierce Platform on a Velocity chassis. The truck has a 1500 gpm waterous pump with a 300 gallon tank. The cab can hold eight firefighters and has a raised roof.

MVA Person Trapped

Rochester Firefighters responded late this afternoon for a mva on Rt 104 in the area of Seneca. While responding, the assignment was upgraded for the report of  people trapped. Engine 16 went on location and confirmed a person trapped. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Alert 2

Airport Firefighters responded this morning for an inbound MD88 with 147 souls on board reporting a bad nose light. Rescue 1 reported the plane landed without incident and it is under investigation.

2-2-2 Extra Alarm Fire

Rochester Firefighters responded early this morning for a house fire at Glendale and Tacoma. Engine 5 was on location with heavy fire on the first floor of a large 2 1/2. Engine 3 ordered an emergency evacuation and to fight the fire defensively. Engine 3 responded as the RIC while Quint & Midi were special called. The second alarm companies were Engine 17 & 16. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.

The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle is reporting that Firefighter Robert Cabrera and another Firefighter used a ladder to rescue a mother and child from the fire.
